Satanic Power

I already know I’m going to be labeled by SJWs as sexist, racist, and a hater for what I’m about to say, even though I am none of those. So SJWs, that’s your trigger warning— I don’t give a fuck.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the root causes of the mass shootings we’ve recently experienced. And my conclusion is that the problem isn’t guns, and it isn’t violent video games, and it’s not political ideology. Yeah, you can’t have a mass shooting without a gun. And video games can become an addiction and give the weak-minded an escape hatch from cruel reality. And extreme left or right ideology does encourage violent behavior.

I think these can all make contributions, but they are shallow contributions when compared to the root cause.

I think the real root cause of these continuing tragedies is much deeper.

It’s Shadow repression.

We live in society where simply to be born male, or white, is a form of Original Sin. And heaven help you if you’re both, for then you’re doubly cursed.

You’re a man? You are presumed to be a misogynist, violent, patriarchal rapist, and you should feel guilty about that, and you should do everything in your power to distance yourself from your yang energy— your maleness.

Accept this curse, and your maleness becomes part of your Shadow.

You’re white? You are presumed to be The Oppressor, at best a tacit supporter of that ghost in the machine: “systemic racism,” and you should feel guilty about that, and you should do everything in your power to distance yourself from your sinful ancestors and avoid any possible benefit from their heinous acts.

In fact, academics have now re-defined “racist” as something only whites can be. Look it up in any academic journal or social justice text: “racism” no longer means the simple, straightforward definition I was taught from the time I was a child: “prejudice based on race,” which is how literally all dictionaries still define it. Now, according to academics, only whites can be racist, and only men can be sexist. How convenient.

Accept this curse, and your “whiteness” becomes part of your Shadow.

If you’re young, you have little hope of doing better than your parents economically— you are less likely than they were to own a home, own a car, have a decent retirement. You’re likely to struggle for most of your life in the “gig economy,” owning nothing, gaining nothing, having no stake in society— a digital serf.

And good luck if you even bother trying to get your first job, because the minimum wage has all but eliminated entry level jobs you could do to get work experience while still living with your parents.

Making friends is no longer simply a matter of hanging around your home town getting to know the kids you grew up with, or simply dating your classmates in high school or college. Dating has become the ultimate online popularity contest. On Tinder, 80% of the women are competing for 20% of the men, based almost solely on attractiveness. And if you’re not already rich or look fabulous (at least on your social media profiles) you’re receiving a constant stream of rejection.

So add another curse for simply being young— at least that one may be lifted someday, *if* you make it to adulthood.

Accept this curse, and your youth becomes part of your Shadow.

If your father was or is significantly absent from your life, add yet another curse. Fathers might leave out of irresponsibility or negligence, but quite frequently fathers are *cut* from boys lives by mothers who have little need for fathers when the state will go so far to support them as single mothers.

If your parents don’t care what extreme ideas flow into your head through your smart phone, add another curse.

If you’d rather play video games of *any* kind or live a false life on social media, rather than interact with real people face-to-face, add another curse.

And if you like traditionally “rough” masculine play that involves honing competitive, warlike skills, *including* first-person shooters and fucking dodge ball, add another curse.

Accept these curses, and your social skills become part of your Shadow.

Finally, there are both extreme left-wing and right-wing political factions that want to claim you as their own, and who will happily tell you that your life can have meaning if you become a warrior, and possibly a martyr, for their cause. You will recognize them by their unwillingness to sit down with the other side— or even centrists and simply have a learning conversation. “Just give us your power, your life,” they say, “and you’ll be a hero.” They appear to be offering you a way to express your Shadow, but they don’t want you to integrate your Shadow, they simply want to use it to control you. They are just another religion— a cult who will use you and then throw you away. Their “deal” is a curse that will make you less able to actually make a positive difference in the world.

Accept that curse, and your legitimate concerns about the direction of society become part of your Shadow.

I’ve written before about suppressing your Shadow, and how truly toxic that can be. What happens in a society when so many natural parts of who we are, are de-legitimized and repressed?

It’s no surprise that a few of these multiply-cursed young men decide to curse everyone in the world right back in their faces, on their way to hell.

And you want to tell me that given all of the above, removing guns from our society— used by the vast majority of their owners for hunting and self-defense, is going to be the solution to any problem? I just have to laugh. Easy political points, but the curses you’ve laid on these men will come back on you— in fact they already are.

To follow the Left Hand Path means to throw off all your chains. To not identify as a victim, but to build yourself into a victor. To make meaning in your life in spite of the world telling you that you must bend the knee. To use the strength of your mind and your body to rise above.

To the young men reading this: you are only cursed to the extent that you accept those curses.

Reject them.
